Penggunaan terpilih reuptake inhibitor (Ssri) jarang telah dikaitkan dengan hyponatremia, kadang-kadang menengah untuk pembangunan sindrom tidak sesuai rembesan hormon antidiuretic (SIADH). Peristiwa-peristiwa ini telah umumnya balik berikut pemberhentian SSRI terapi dan/atau campur tangan perubatan. SSRI-berkaitan hyponatremia mungkin lebih biasa di tua pesakit wanita dan orang-orang yang volume-habis atau menerima seiring diuretic terapi. Hati-hati mungkin diperlukan apabila SSRI terapi diberikan pada pesakit ini dan pasien dengan wujud terlebih dahulu hyponatremia atau SIADH. Serum elektrolit, terutama natrium serta BUN dan plasma peluang untuk bertemu muka, perlu diawasi.
