Berpanjangan menggunakan steroid boleh menyebabkan posterior subcapsular katarak dan tinggi kalau tekanan, kedua yang boleh membawa glaukoma dan/atau kerusakan saraf optik. Terapi jangka panjang dengan steroid perlu diberikan berhati-hati pesakit dengan sejarah katarak, glaukoma, atau meningkat kalau tekanan.
