Steroid mengurangkan osteoblastic fungsi dan menghalang penyerapan usus kalsium, yang boleh menyebabkan tulang penyerapan dan tulang kehilangan semasa berpanjangan terapi. Di samping itu, tulang matrix boleh dipengaruhi oleh protein-katabolik kesan steroid, terutama ketika diberikan dalam dos yang tinggi atau untuk tempoh yang lama, terkemuka untuk k kebekuan dan patah. Jangka panjang atau tinggi-dos terapi kortikosteroid perlu diberikan berhati-hati, dan hanya jika perlu pada pasien dengan atau berisiko untuk diuji. Buruk rangka kesan mungkin diminimumkan oleh ganti-hari atau terputus-putus pentadbiran. Apa-apa pasien menerima berpanjangan terapi dengan bersamaan 7.5 mg prednisone/hari atau lebih berisiko untuk glukokortikoid-induced diuji dan harus berjaya menurut Amerika College of Rheumatology (ACR) garis panduan.
