Beberapa beta-adrenergic reseptor menyekat agen (dgn kata lain, bukan cardioselective beta-blocker) yang disarankan pada pasien dengan asma atau dengan sejarah asma, atau teruk kronik penghalang penyakit paru-paru. Secara umum, beta-adrenergic reseptor menyekat agen tidak boleh digunakan dalam pasien dengan bronchospastic penyakit. Beta blokade boleh memberi kesan buruk kepada fungsi paru-paru oleh mengimbangi bronchodilation dihasilkan oleh catecholamine rangsangan reseptor beta-2. Jika beta-blocker terapi perlu pesakit ini, agen dengan beta-1 pemilihan (contohnya, atenolol, metoprolol, betaxolol) dianggap aman, tetapi harus digunakan dengan hati-hati tetap.
